How it started..

Did you know that one garbage truck of textiles is land filled or incinerated every second?!
The number of clothing recycled into new clothes does not even reach 1% worldwide. It was estimated that nothing changes, the fashion industry will consume a quarter of the world’s annual carbon budget by 2050.*
A big part of fashion waste comes from the off-cuts in the production process. Around 15% of fabric destined for clothing ends up on the cutting room floor.
At Pigeon Eco Store we are committed to create a world with less waste.
We have teamed up with a wonderful slow fashion company notPERFECTLINEN using their linen remnants to make our products.
We believe in giving a new life to those fabric scraps. We have worked hard to put them together into carefully thought through arrangements. Creating those items has been an amazing eye opening journey and allowed us understand more sustainability issues. It is fascinating to watch how new great products can be created from scraps.
We want to make sure these linen fabrics have a long new life and serve a noble purpose. This is why we transformed them into zero waste articles supporting the sustainable living idea. Our company aims to be environmentally conscious on all levels. We not only offer sustainable products that can help you produce less waste but also put a lot of care into how those products are made and where the materials come from.

Throughout the world the sobering reality of trash is hard to escape. I have seen beaches on the edge of paradise tainted by the waste washed ashore from some far away land. I’ve visited tiny villages overrun by waste with nowhere to go. Hiked along once pristine rivers blanketed by an unending deluge of plastic that flows through snow capped mountains.
To see the effect we have on the planet is something that has forever changed me. Everywhere I have went the consequence of our consumption can be seen. To see something that touches your heart and engrains itself in your memory with the power of its beauty covered in the litter of mankind is one of the most painful experiences I have ever known. After shedding many tears and filling many garbage bags I decided it was time to do something more, and that is when we set out to start Pigeon Eco Store.
We are producing over 300 million tons of plastic every year which is almost an equivalent to the weight of the entire human population. Every minute one million plastic drinking bottles are purchased! Every year 5 trillion single-use plastic bags are used worldwide.
50% of plastic is produced for single-use purposes. That means it is going to be used just for a few moments and thrown away. After that it will stay on the Planet for at least several hundred years. Not many people know that 99% of plastics are made from chemicals derived from oil, natural gas and coal as well. These are one of the highest polluting non-renewable resources on the planet.
This is why something needs to be done.
Our products are not only made from recycled materials but also they are meant to keep non biodegradable waste out of the environment. Our items are created according to the zero waste idea of reusing and having less. We want our customers to have sustainable alternatives for single use plastics and disposable paper items. We are focused on making simple every day items that could help our customers lead more eco friendly lifestyle.

We also implemented a circular economy models into our production processes. We recycle linen remnants, use only biodegradable materials in our products and for packaging. We also off-set our carbon footprint by planting a tree with every order.
Those products are all hand made and carefully put together. It might take a lot more time to create something from scraps but that is what makes those things special and worthwhile. We want to inspire others to change their thinking. It is not only about counting your profits but also making sure that your business is doing some good in this world.
We like to think that although this is just a small drop in the ocean of what needs to be done we can make a change here at Pigeon Eco Store.
This is our passion and life commitment. We want to THANK YOU for helping us make the change happen with your every purchase.
